Abstract

Producing model data is only the first step in a long and tedious process before data is ready for analysis and publication. The Processflow is a purpose-built tool for automating the entire post-processing workflow for E3SM model output, removing as much pain as possible from the process of handling the extremely large datasets now being produced by long and high resolution E3SM simulation runs. Recent development has added much requested features including handling arbitrarily many run cases in parallel, as well as model-vs-model diagnostics and CMIP6 publication prep. The Processflow currently supports regridding for atm/lnd/ocn data, climatology generation, time series variable generation, AMWG diagnostics, e3sm_diags, A-Prime diagnostics, and CMIP6 variable prep with CMOR. The phase 2 roadmap lays out future development plans, including adding the ILAMB diagnostics as well as automated ESGF publication.
