Abstract

I will be presenting an overview of Tropical Cyclone (TC) simulation in E3SM with the North American Regional Refined Mesh (NARRM) configuration. We will examine some salient features of TCs, such as frequency and intensity, in the NARRM simulations and contrast them with those simulated in ‘RRM-atm/SR-ocn’ to understand the impact of a high-resolution ocean. Finally, we will examine TCs in the eastern Pacific. More specifically, we will look at landfalling TCs and their contribution to precipitation in the US southwest.
