  • About

    The ACME Fall Meeting is was the first Fall Meeting for ACME members . It will include invited talks from DOE ACME project managers, Executive Committee, as well as from each Group facilitated by Group Leaders. There will be Group sessions for intra-group and cross-group discussions to facilitate communication exchange within and between groups. A and was focused on planning for the next 12 month roadmap. It included a dedicated session on Coupled Experiments Process Run timeline, the ACME v1.0-alpha testing and ACME v1.0-beta tuning will be held, as well as plans for the ACME v2 both model and experiments. The poster session will be included to facilitate facilitated discussion in 3 areas: Early Results, Problem-solving and Future Direction. A few posters may be selected for plenary oral presentations. The meeting will also hold plenary and well as hands-on tutorial sessions on:

      • software development, git and ACME repository provided by Software Engineering and Coupler Group
      • ACME workflow with detailed data flow, diagnostics, UV-CDAT and ESGF provided by Workflow Group
      • agile ACME software development techniques, including roadmaps, quarterly plans, working in JIRA, and submitting reports provided by Project Engineer

     Who Should Attend

    ACME Group Leaders and Task Leaders are required to attend, all ACME members are welcomed to attend.

    Registration

    Registration and Hotel Reservation Link      Registration is $150.  Please register online when you make your hotel reservation.  No onsite registration.  Late registration must also be done online.    

    Poster Submission

    We invite ACME team members to submit a presentation abstract for the ACME Fall meeting. The submission process and categories are the same as it was for the ACME All-hands Meeting. The following 3 topics are solicited

     

    Posters

    The posters were presented in the following 3 topics: (R) Early science or computational Results from the ACME project, (P) Problem-solving or issue topics to solicit ideas and feedback toward creative solutions, or (F) Future directions that ACME could consider (and why).  A few abstracts may be selected for short oral presentations in plenary session and/or within the Group break-outs, the others will be presented in poster form.  A poster template with a quad-chart type format will be made available.  Abstract submissions should be submitted by Oct 12; notification of oral or poster will be made before Oct 19.  The abstract should include the category R, P or F and should identify a target Group or Experiment (Land, Workflow, Water-cycle etc.).  Abstract submission will be collected on our Confluence website, see instruction in

    The Abstracts with links to posters can be found in Fall Meeting Poster Abstract Submission. For each poster the Confluence page will be created to upload your electronic version of the poster. All ACME members will be invited to leave comments and start discussions on the poster topic or problem. We hope to foster conversations that will then be continued in person at the poster session, and then later on again in electronic form on Confluence. Please go to Fall Meeting Poster Abstract Submission page for specific instructions on abstract submission.

    Nomination for Awards

    We will continue with awards for ACME team members in recognition of those who have gone “above and beyond” to contribute to the project. This includes demonstrated commitment, important scientific or technical ideas or advances, or noteworthy inter/intra-disciplinary teamwork. DOE BER management will present 2 awards twice per year. The award nominations are solicited for ACME team members; Group-Leads and Council members should be excluded.

    We invite nominations from Group Leaders that should include a brief statement (paragraph) explaining your choice. Nominations for the meeting should be sent to the Executive Committee before Oct 12, 2015.

    Solicitation for Breakout Rooms

    Go to Request Breakout Session for 2015 Fall Meeting to request a breakout room for a discussion in a small group. Anyone is invited to request a breakout meeting. Please give a short explanation of planned activities. Breakout Room requests are due by Oct 26, 2015.

    Congratulations to Gautam Bisht at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and to Douglas Jacobsen at Los Alamos National Laboratory, on receiving a commendation from the ACME Executive Council and presented by Dr. Dorothy Koch, Earth System Modeling Program,  Climate and Environmental Sciences Division Biological and Environmental Research, an office of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Office of Science.
