Abstract

A second generation International Land Model Benchmarking package (ILAMBv2) has been developed in a partner project and tested with the ACME Land Model (ALM). This new package is fully open source and developed in Python. It runs much faster and operates in parallel on clusters and supercomputers. This new package has been tested on rhea.ccs.ornl.gov and on cori.nersc.gov. In addition to the offline simulations previously evaluated, the new package is being used to evaluate early fully coupled simulations targeting the water cycle experiments. In particular, we are assessing concerns from the Coupled Simulation Group regarding land surface albedo. The new package includes a high level overview portrait plot showing model scores as stop-light colors and relative model performance (Z-scores) in similar fashion. We will present early results from evaluation of offline and fully coupled water cycle experiments using ILAMBv2.
