Abstract | Using a rising bubble test case and idealized physics, we implement unapproximated thermodynamics in Homme. With thermodynamics based on theoretical heat capacities of water forms, the flux of precipitation enthalpy closely matches an approximated flux that is based on a heat capacity of fresh liquid water. Homme formulation of Lagrangian vertical coordinate can support constant pressure and constant volume physics-dynamics coupling for nonhydrostatic flows. |
