Abstract

The instrument simulators are developed to facilitate direct comparison of modeled clouds with detailed observations. For the ACME project, the cloud diagnostics from satellite simulator output were added in UVCDAT and the Tier 1b cloud collection has been implemented to the diagnostics package in the UVCDAT framework. Multi-sensor measurements can be used to compared directly with the model simulations. The poster shows preliminary results on using Tier 1b cloud collection to evaluate clouds simulated by ACME at L30 and L72 and at 1 degree and 0.25 degree horizontal resolutions in its AMIP runs. Problems for simulator implementation and technical issues will also be discussed.
