Short summary of what was done and what was the result.

We run a 1 degree FC compset, FC5AV1C-L, simulation for 6 years and create 5-year (year 2 to 6) climatologies from it. We plot climatologies vs observations and vs default configuration. The default configuration consists of default hydrostatic dycore with default settings. Preliminary runs are described in /wiki/spaces/COM/pages/941096965 , each relevant run also has entry for its climatologies.

There we produced runs with SL transport and theta-l dycore (hydrostatic only). Run1 there contains parameters for theta+SL, but uses default settings for topography divergence damping. Run 20 is more optimal than Run 1 wrt divergence damping and number of HV sub cycles. We will produce 1 more simulation, with the same divergence and HV parameters as in Run 20, but with more optimal TOM dissipation. This last run is expected to be if not the final configuration than very close to it. We will have model vs model climatologies for it.

As a shortcut, here are climatologies for Run 20 (the closest to the final configuration so far) vs observations: https://web.lcrc.anl.gov/public/e3sm/diagnostic_output/onguba/theta/theta-sl-run2.12775/viewer/latitude-longitude/index.html

Compare these with the default run (also plotted agains observations): https://portal.nersc.gov/project/acme/onguba/variability/preqx-default-march30.190330and190331-0002-0006/viewer/latitude-longitude/index.html

We are adding tests for theta dycore and SL into testing harness of E3SM.
